conclude with a trip to the wreck of 'Hilma Hooker, a freighter (1,027 tons - 72 meters long, built in Holland in 1951) in 1984 for a breakdown of the engine was towed to the pier of Bonaire
Here the surprise was found carrying several tons of marijuana! The drug was seized and the ship placed under seizure, the months passed but the investigation did not go forward (owner has disappeared) and the ship, unmanned and in poor condition, was in danger of sinking, creating big problems for the maritime authorities. It was then decided to anchor at one point on the south coast of the island awaiting developments. On the morning of September 12, 1984 aboard the Hilma Hooker after water from all the doors are bent on the right side and within minutes sank in 30 feet of water making it one of the most admired and popular wrecks in the Caribbean.
